Možnosti vesnice – photographs
A key aspect of the book’s concept was to visit each location and photograph the architecture projects as they are in their real-life state. We decided that the only way to achieve this uniform quality and singularity of interpretation is to avoid reusing existing images at all. For each location we worked on capturing the essence of the place and the overall intervention as it stands in time. We ended up using over 200 images in the book itself. This is a selection from the 12 locations.
Bratčice
A village centre redesign in Bratčice u Brna by Dan Šamánek that turns an uncomfortable swamp land into a sophisticated water management system centered around a lake that nourishes vasts amounts of healthy greenery and creates delightful new public space experiences with its endless wooden walkways and benches.
Dobšice
Lahofer winery in Dobšice by Chybik+Kristof architects. A huge transformation and a source of new energy for a small village with just fields and vineyards around. This building sets a new standard for the otherwise untouched typology of a typical local wine cellar. The painted ceilings on the concrete curves of the interior by Patrik Hábl are a tribute to those original small-scale buildings.
