Visuals & colors

Planning the culture of an entire city for years to come is a complex task. It is all about visualising, arranging, synchronising and executing many components in harmony. These abstract visuals depict all those invidiual pieces of the strategy using one cube. The cube constantly flows, multiplies, evolves, grows, rearranges itself and becomes what we wanted it to be. It is a symbol that carries a lot of meaning in the transition from one order to another.

The color scheme for this project came out of studying many pairs of colors that form a good balance, colors that go well together, maintain a contrast and feel pleasant visually. A human color, an environment color. A debate of two colors over many pages. We settled on salmon pink and dark slate grey in a visual and emotional exchange with the team.

Typography

The typeface choice was influenced by the need to have a free licence set of fonts as this document is going to be spread over a lot of users for many years, possibly until 2035. Out of the Google fonts catalog came two lovely choices. Roboto Slab in bold is the heading font that has a solid yet decorative stature with its weighted serifs. The paragraph font is Work Sans in regular weight as it is a beautifully legible font for smaller texts visually analogical to Helvetica in many ways.
