Meziměsto
Meziměsto is a publishing house focusing around the subjects of cities, city life, urban landscape, architecture, landscape architecture and urban planning. The Prague-based business is run by architecture and public space writer Michaela Hečková for whom we created a scalable and coherent visual identity.

Tea phthalo coral
The color scheme is a reflection of values and topics that Meziměsto deals with. The greens are representation of a liveable environment which the published works most often deal with be it cities or public space. Coral pink with its reddish and orange hues is the human element – some sort of general skin – and perhaps the brick as well. Even if ignoring this concept the trio of colors just work well together showing gradation in the greens and a soft complementary relationship of the cold greens with the warm pink.

Architectural Druk
Here the line of thought was definitely to capture the vertical heavy nature of a building. Druk’s compressed look also gives it an outline similar to books on a shelf. The angled italic rhythm balances the visual weight of the font with some dynamics and direction. Eventually the actual angle became defining for other visual elements in this identity system.

Druk heavy & medium italic by Commercial Type

The angle of the M’s vertical is used to generate a silhouette of books of various sizes and thicknesses.

A shaded look or a gradient feeling is achieved by this rhythm of pointed shapes.

Two scales and two themes essential to an architecture publisher – a row of books & a city skyline.
