Karlín book illustrations
My favorite way to design books is to blend photos and illustrations closely with the flow of the story and the content in text. With Karlín it was obvious there will be a lot of photos for the 40 locations it portrays and adding more images for the architecture and artworks would flood the book with very incoherent content. The illustrated representations complement the book perfectly without diversifying the visuals too much. Illustrations also work better in ofset print if the image size is smaller, they mainting clarity far beyond a photo.
