Safezone
A hugging or embracing gesture expressed in satin matt metal with an organic network-like facet pattern. I designed the Safezone trophy for the Czech Insurance Broker Association as an abstract expression of the protecting principle of insurance. A zone of protection, a Safezone.

New gold standard
For an award trio gold, silver and bronze are the most universal classic set of finishes. It is a strong unquestionable archetype that I wanted to maintain but I wanted to give some signature technological and aesthetic shift. Experimentation with anodising aluminium and its subsequent pigmentation lead to a system that allows these metallic tones to be expressed reliably in a satin matt finish while retaining the amazing properties anodised surfaces have.

The concept
The shape of the award is expressing an embracing or hugging gesture as it is a flat surface folded around something. It is an abstraction of a protective gesture materialised in coloured metal. Next to this meaning I wanted each object to be an original and that is achieved by the use of this cellular pattern that folds very randomly as you work the surface into a volume. It is a physical randomness generator.

Wrap around
The form
A form carrying a meaning or a story is design in its strongest. A function is often in the meaning, it is driven by it and motivated by it. That is what an award represents – it means something and carries this meaning even though it is itself just an abstract embodiment of it.
